Description

A 48A J1772 extension cable that adds 21 ft or 33 ft of reach between your EV charger and your car.

It is made for setups where the charger’s own cable falls short, such as a wall-mounted unit in the corner of a garage or a car parked further away than usual. The socket end takes your charger’s J1772 plug and the plug end goes into your vehicle. A carry bag is included for storage.

Before you buy:

  1. This is an extension only. It is not a charger.
  2. Some vehicle and charger manufacturers advise against extension cables or may not cover damage caused by them. Check your car’s and charger’s manuals first.
  3. Charging speed is set by the lowest-rated part of the chain: car, charger, supply circuit and extension.

【Adds reach without moving your charger】:Choose 21 ft (about 6.4 m) for a garage or driveway that is just out of reach, or 33 ft (about 10 m) for large garages and distant parking spots. Measure the extra distance you need, not the total.

【Rated for up to 48A】:At 240V that is up to about 11kW, so the extension is not the limiting part on most home chargers (many are 32A or 40A). A higher rating doesn’t make a slower charger or car charge faster.

【Tough PC+ABS housing】:The housing is flame-retardant to UL94 V-0 (manufacturer-stated material rating). It is built for daily use in a garage or driveway.

【Dust and water-jet protection】:IP55 (manufacturer-stated) covers dust and water jets. It is not waterproof and should not sit in standing water. Stated operating range is -22°F to 122°F (-30°C to 50°C).

Compatible Vehicles

Compatible with all SAE J1772 EVs and PHEVs, including:

  • Tesla Model 3 / Y / S / X (with J1772 adapter)
  • Nissan Leaf
  • Chevrolet Volt
  • And all other vehicles equipped with a standard J1772 charging port

What’s in the box

  • 1 × ELEVOCHARGE J1772 EV charging extension cable (21 ft or 33 ft, as selected)
  • 1 × Carry bag
  • 1 ×  user manual

How to use

  1. Confirm that your car and charger manuals allow extension cables.
  2. Make sure the charger’s J1772 plug is not connected to the car.
  3. Insert the charger’s J1772 plug into the extension’s socket end.
  4. Insert the extension’s plug end into your car’s charging inlet.
  5. Start charging as normal. Follow your charger’s instructions on start-up. Some setups need a short wait while the charger and car connect (supplier says 30 seconds; confirm in the manual).
  6. To finish, stop the session, unplug the vehicle end first, then separate the connectors.
  7. Keep connectors clean and dry and store the cable loosely coiled in the bag.

Only through a J1772-to-Tesla adapter, and we can’t verify how an adapter performs with an extension. Please check with Tesla and the adapter maker first.
It can be, but only if your car and charger manufacturers allow it. Some advise against extensions or may not cover damage caused by them. Check your manuals first, don’t chain extensions, and stop using it if it feels hot or the connectors are damaged.
It shouldn’t reduce the rated power if all parts are properly rated, but a longer total cable run adds some voltage drop. Your car and charger may also adjust power to the lowest-rated component, so check the specs on each.

Works well with my Leaf, even if the latch lacks a satisfying click

I’ve been using this EV extension cable for the past couple of weeks to charge my Nissan Leaf, and it works pretty much exactly as I hoped. The car charges seamlessly, and I have not noticed it being any slower than normal. The extra length is the whole point, and 21 feet gives us a lot more flexibility for parking. It is one of those things you do not think much about once it is working, which is a good sign. The included carry bag was a nice addition. I do not use it much since this cable mostly stays hooked to our cord, but it is useful if you plan to keep the extension in the car or move it around. My only small quibble is the latch. When I connect it to my Leaf, it does not have the usual satisfying “click” that I’m used to from the standard charging plug. It is still latched in securely, it does not fall out on its own, and I still have to press the lever to remove it. It just lacks that reassuring click. For me, that is not a real problem. The cable works, the connection is secure, and the added reach makes charging much more convenient.

It actually comes in handy.

I got this J1772 EV charger extension cable to solve a reach problem, and it has worked really well. The cable feels sturdy and heavy-duty, and it gives me the extra length I needed without making charging complicated. The connection is solid on both ends, and it has been reliable during everyday charging. I also like that it stays only slightly warm during use, which gives me more confidence in the build quality. For a product like this, that matters a lot. It’s especially useful when the charging port is awkwardly placed or the charger is just a little too far from the car. The extra flexibility makes a big difference, and it’s one of those accessories you don’t think you need until you actually use it.Overall, this is a practical and well-made extension cable for J1772 charging setups. If you need more reach for home charging or a backup solution for tight parking spots, it does the job very well.

Reliable Extension Cable for Daily EV Use

This extension cable is exactly what I needed now that we have a second Tesla. It gives us the extra reach without having to rearrange cars or move the charger around, and it feels well made from the moment you pick it up. The length is just right for our driveway and garage setup, and it keeps everything neat instead of stretching cords in awkward directions. The connectors fit securely, and the cable has a good weight to it without being too heavy to handle. The build quality it what really stands out. The outer shell feels sturdy, and the insulation is thick enough that I do not worry about it sitting outside in the Arizona heat. We get extreme temperatures here, and this cable has handled the hot afternoons without any trouble. The waterproof rating is reassuring because monsoon season can bring sudden rain, and I like knowing the cable is made for outdoor use. It coils easily when I put it away, and the storage pouch keeps it clean when it is not in use.Charging performance has been smooth. It supports the higher amperage without slowing anything down, and both cars recognize it right away. There is no lag or fuss when connecting. I plug the charger into the extension, wait a moment, then connect it to the car, and it starts charging just like a direct connection. It feels like a simple solution that solves a real problem when you have more than one EV in the household. This is a practical item to have if you need a little more flexibility with your charging setup. It feels well made, it handles the weather, and it gives us the reach we need without adding clutter. I am glad to have it because it makes daily charging easier now that we have two Teslas at home.

Good item to have in the back of your EV

I have been considering an EV charging extension cable for a while now, basically since I read about them. I got this to put in the back of my ZDX for charging on the road where I won't be close to the EVSE unit. Now if I am somewhere I can plug into an outlet and run the cord to my ZDX. Additionally, if my friends come over and need a charge up, I can have them pull behind my garage and plug them in. I flew my cord over the rafters in my garage because my ZDX has the charging port on the driver's side front quarter panel. I have a 48-amp wall charger so this can handle that. I won't be using this when at a Supercharger station though. One thing not disclosed in the listing is what type of wire is used, CCA or solid copper. I would feel a bit better to know that this is made with all copper wires. For the price of this Elevocharge 21-ft extension cable is a good item to carry in your EV's cargo area.

Excellent Heavy-Duty EV Charging Extension Cable

This 21-foot J1772 extension cable solved exactly the problem I bought it for. My BMW's charging cable normally requires me to park in one very specific position to reach the charger. With this extension, I have much more flexibility in where I park while still being able to charge. The connectors fit perfectly. Both ends lock securely into place with the same positive click you'd expect from the original charging cable, and during testing there was no noticeable reduction in charging performance. The cable itself feels very well made. It's heavy enough to inspire confidence without being unnecessarily stiff, and it's clearly designed to handle the full 48-amp load. The weather-resistant construction and wide operating temperature range are also nice features, even though living in Southern California I probably won't be testing either extreme. It also comes with a sturdy carrying case that's appropriately sized for the cable, along with a cleaning cloth, which is a thoughtful addition for something that's often used outdoors.Overall, this is a high-quality extension cable that simply works. It extends the reach of your existing J1772 charger without affecting charging performance, the connectors fit securely, and the construction feels durable enough for years of regular use. If you need extra charging distance, this is an excellent solution.

VERY useful for road trips and high quality

This is a high quality extension cable to level 2 charge your EV vehicles. This cable answers all my problems for when I am traveling. Some people just park wherever they can regardless of if it is a space for EV charging. Example: I arrive with a low state of charge at a hotel with a destination charger and need to charge my car. If someone is in the space (happens VERY often!) it makes it very difficult. With this extension cord I can connect the destination charger cable to it and then connect to my car. It gives me an extra 16' of length. Remember this is a J1772 connector for up to level 2 charging. It is NOT a fast charger and must not be used with a fast charger!! Up to 48v only! EDIT: There have been some other reviewers concerned over core material i.e. are the cores copper or copper clad aluminum? I did a search and found this on Elevocharge website: 100% copper. Good Build Quality, But One Critical Specification Is Missing

This is a heavy, substantial J1772 extension cable that appears to be well made. The insulation is thick yet still reasonably flexible, the molded connectors fit securely, and the included storage case is a nice addition. Overall, the cable gives the impression of a quality product.Unfortunately, I could not perform a full charging test because I don’t have a compatible EV, so I can only comment on the construction and overall fit and finish. My biggest concern is that nowhere in the Amazon listing, packaging, owner’s manual, or cable jacket does the manufacturer identify the conductor material. For a product carrying up to 48 amps continuously, that’s one of the most important specifications a buyer should know.Based on the printed conductor size, this cable uses the gauge commonly associated with a copper conductor at this current rating. If the conductors are in fact copper, then I think this is a very good value for around $130. However, if the conductors are copper-clad aluminum or another lower-conductivity material, that same gauge would generally not be considered appropriate for carrying the same continuous current. The problem is that the manufacturer never tells you which it is.I don’t think buyers should have to guess about something this important. If the cable uses 100% copper conductors, that should be clearly stated because it is a major selling point. If it doesn’t, buyers deserve to know that as well.Based strictly on the physical construction, this appears to be a quality cable. However, the lack of transparency regarding what is arguably the most important specification of the entire product keeps me from rating it higher until the manufacturer clearly identifies the conductor material.

Good cable, not great price.

The media could not be loaded.

The product was shipped quickly domestically and arrived inside 7 days. This does not affect my rating, just an FYI.I like it. The cable comes in a very nice carrying case and seems to be high quality both in materials and execution. It connected without any issues to my existing ChargePoint cable and I was able to charge my Tesla (with the appropriate adapter) without issues. During charging rhe cable for slightly warm which is normal. However, the original ChargePoint cable did not get that warm. Just a data point. I do not believe the Elevocharge is inferior in any way.Why the 4 stars?First- price point. I would like this cable to be below $100. I feel that is the correct price at which it will have a competitive advantage over the other similar cables.Second- the connectors seem to be less heavy duty than my ChargePoint Flex connectors. The Elevocharge connectors are prettier, but considerably lighter. Is that a bad thing? I don’t know. They just seem flimsier. Time will show.Third- the cable is thinner than the ChargePoint cable. The ChargePoint is rated at 50 amps and this one is 48 amps. Not enough of a difference to warrant the thinner cable. That is why it also heats up a bit during charging compared to the ChargePoint one.So there you have it. It is thinner, prettier than the ChargePoint OEM cable. Worse, inferior? I dont think so. But just my observations. I rate this cable 4 stars strictly because of not being a great value for the money.

EV Extension Cable

I’ve got this extension cable running from the charger in my garage out to the driveway, so I can charge the car whether it’s parked inside or outside. I secured it along the garage wall and ran it through the wall down by the corner of the garage door. Works out really handy. The cable is surprisingly flexible, so running it around the corners and along the wall wasn’t a pain. It feels heavy duty and well made, and I’m not seeing any noticeable loss in charging through the extension and connections. It also showed up really well packaged, so there was no damage from shipping. Overall, it does exactly what I needed it to do. Solid cable, flexible enough to work with, and the price was good. Hard to ask for much more than that.

ELEVOCHARGE 21ft J1772 EV Extension Cable

The ELEVOCHARGE 21ft J1772 EV Extension Cable is a heavy-duty, high-current electrical bridge cord engineered to extend the functional reach of standard electric vehicle charging stations. The primary use case is bridging the distance between a fixed home Level 2 charging box or public charger and a vehicle's charging port when parking bays are blocked or the vehicle is parked farther down a driveway. For example, I used this 21-foot cord to charge an electric vehicle parked outside the garage; the J1772 connectors locked securely into both the charger handle and the car inlet, delivering a full, uninterrupted 48-amp current without overheating or dropping voltage. This extension cable represents exceptional value by providing a cost-effective alternative to reinstalling or moving a hardwired charging station closer to the driveway. Fabricated with heavy-gauge, pure-copper conductors, flame-retardant insulation, and an all-weather jacket rated for outdoor exposure, the cord is durable and expected to last through thousands of plug-in cycles in extreme rain, snow, or heat. It is simple and easy to use, operating as a true plug-and-play extension that stores neatly inside the included zippered carrying bag. Aesthetically pleasing with its rugged, commercial-grade connector moldings, it provides a safe and tidy power connection.

Sturdy Extension Cord That Adds Reach Without Slowing Charging ⚡🔌

Overview: A 21ft J1772 extension cord rated for up to 48 amps that adds reach between the charger and a car without messing with the charging speed.I've used this extension cord a few times to reach a car parked farther from the outlet. It's rated for 48 amps and up to 240V, which supposedly covers most level 1 and 2 chargers without slowing down the charge, though I haven't tested every charger out there to confirm that 🔌 The shell is a "PC+ABS" plastic with an "IP55 waterproof rating," and it held up fine sitting outside during a light rain. Plugging in is simple, you connect the charger to the cord, wait about 30 seconds, then plug into the car, kind of like a middleman who just wants everyone to get along ⚡This works fine and the value is pretty good for the length you get. It comes with a small carrying pouch, which helps since the cord is bulkier than a regular extension cord and doesn't coil down small. One tip, keep the connection points off wet ground even with the waterproof rating, just for extra peace of mind 🌧️

Useful Extra Reach for My Car & Motorcycle Charging

I bought this 21-foot J1772 extension cable because my home charging setup was just a little too far from where I normally park. It gave me the extra reach I needed without having to relocate the charger. The connectors feel solid and fit securely on both ends. I have not had issues with the connection feeling loose, and the cable is flexible enough to route around the garage without being difficult to handle.I have used it with Level 2 charging, and the connection has remained stable during normal charging sessions. I like that it is rated for higher-current charging, so I do not feel like I am using a lightweight cord for a demanding application. The extra 21 feet makes a big difference when parking position changes or when another vehicle is blocking the closest spot. It is also useful when charging outside and the station is not right next to the charge port. The outer jacket feels durable, and the connectors have held up well to normal handling. I have also used it in damp conditions without any connection issues, although I still keep the plugs off the ground when possible. The included carrying bag is handy for keeping the cable organized in the trunk instead of having it loose with the rest of my charging gear.Overall, I’m very happy with this extension cable. It gives me useful extra charging reach, feels well made, and has been a convenient addition to my J1772 charging setup.

A practical solution if your charging cable comes up short

This extension cable does exactly what it's supposed to do and gives you a lot more flexibility when charging your EV. 21 feet is enough to make charging much more convenient without having to reposition the car. The cable also feels thick, durable, and well made. The connectors fit securely with no wobble, and it's nice knowing it's designed to handle higher charging speeds while also being weather resistant for outdoor use (I use mine under cover so haven't tested this, however).I also appreciate the little extras, like the carrying case that keeps everything organized for storage. Even though the cable feels pretty heavy duty, it's still flexible enough to coil up without fighting you. If your existing charging cable just doesn't quite reach your preferred parking spot, this is a simple solution that can save you some frustration.

Makes Charging Way More Flexible

This 21 ft J1772 extension cable is one of those simple upgrades that ends up solving a lot of everyday charging annoyances. If your charger isn’t in the perfect spot, this gives you the flexibility you didn’t realize you needed. The extra length is the biggest win. It gives you plenty of reach so you’re not constantly adjusting how you park just to plug in. Whether it’s a tight garage or an awkward driveway setup, it makes things a lot easier.Performance has been solid. It supports up to 48 amps and handles charging without any noticeable drop in speed. You’re still getting the full benefit of your charger, which is exactly what you want from an extension cable.Build quality feels strong and durable. The cable is thick and well-insulated, and it holds up nicely with regular use. At the same time, it’s flexible enough that you’re not fighting it when coiling it up or storing it.The connectors fit securely and lock in place without any looseness. Once it’s plugged in, it feels just as stable as a direct connection.Portability is better than expected for something this heavy-duty. It does have a bit of weight to it, but it’s still easy enough to move around, and the included carrying bag makes storage and transport much more convenient.Compatibility is straightforward. It works with all J1772 EVs and chargers, so most setups are covered. If you’re using a Tesla, you can still use it with the right adapter, which adds some flexibility.Another nice thing is how consistent it is. No overheating issues or interruptions during longer charging sessions, just steady performance. If there’s one thing to keep in mind, it’s that the cable is fairly thick, so it takes up a bit more space than a standard charging cord. That’s expected given the power it supports, and it’s a fair tradeoff for the durability and performance. For the price, it’s a great value. Instead of relocating your charger or installing a new outlet, this gives you a much easier and more affordable solution.Overall, it’s a reliable, well-built extension cable that makes EV charging a lot more convenient. Simple, effective, and definitely worth having if you need the extra reach.
